Three decades in Hollywood

Los Angeles is where Birgit learned to design for the camera. From studio feature films to ten years at the heart of a global television drama, and from luxury brand partnerships to leading a transatlantic business council, the city shaped the way she works.

Studios and screen

Birgit's Hollywood career began on productions at Paramount, Sony, Disney and Universal. In 2001 she became head costume designer of CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful, a drama set inside a fictional Los Angeles fashion house and watched around the world. For ten years she dressed its cast in runway couture and fine jewelry, winning three Daytime Emmy Awards. In 2016 she brought that experience to Global Beauty Masters as fashion director and mentor.

Luxury and brand leadership

As global brand ambassador for British furniture house Christopher Guy, Birgit represented the brand at trade shows and in the press, and judged the annual Christopher Guy–BritWeek Design Award. She founded Brand Ambassador, a Beverly Hills agency that positions luxury, fashion and lifestyle brands.

British American Business Council Los Angeles

As Executive Director of BABC LA, Birgit connects British and Californian business, culture and creative industries. In February 2025 she moderated “Life Lessons with Jenny Beavan,” a conversation with the three-time Academy Award-winning costume designer.

Beverly Hills moments

From the 2024 Beauty-Stem Charity Gala, which raised funds for stem cell research, to the opening of the first Swaine boutique in Beverly Hills and her own Couture and Art pop-up in May 2026, Birgit remains part of the city's creative life.
